BEN HUFFMAN, VARSITY HEAD COACH

San Angelo, TX

 

Experience:

11 Years

 

This will be Coach Huffman’s 12th

 year in coaching. He is joining Cedar Park after spending the previous 3 years at Shallowater High School as the Head Baseball Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the football team. In his time at Shallowater the team won 2 district titles and were three-time Regional Semi-Finalist. Prior to Shallowater Coach Huffman spent five years at Cedar Park Vista Ridge as the Varsity Assistant and pitching coach. Coach Huffman started his career spending his first three years at his high school alma matter San Angelo Lake View. Coach Huffman attended Angelo State University and earned his B.S. in Applied Physics. Coach Huffman is has been married to his wife Monica, who teaches at Bar W Elementary, for 5 years. Together they have 2 children, Parker Jolene (daughter, 4) and Brooks (son, 1). Outside of baseball Coach Huffman’s other responsibilities are Assistant wide receivers and teaching Physics.

 

 

JAIME PEREZ, ASSISTANT COACH

Austin, TX

 

Experience:

5 Years

 

This will be Coach Perez’s 6 th year in coaching. He joins Cedar Park after spending a 2-year stint at Sinton High School, where he served as an Assistant Baseball Coach (Outfielders), Assistant Football Coach (Receivers), Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, and Recruiting Coordinator for the Pirate Athletic Program. In his time at Sinton, Coach Perez helped the Pirate Baseball team reach the State Semifinals in 2023 and Area Finals in 2024. He additionally helped the Pirate Football team reach the Area Finals in 2022 and the Regional Finals in 2023. Prior to Sinton, Coach Perez spent 2-years at Navarro High School where he served as an Assistant Baseball and Football Coach. Coach Perez began his career in San Angelo, TX where he worked with both the Middle School and San Angelo Central High School in both programs. Coach Perez attended Angelo State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and his Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership. Coach Perez is engaged to his Fiancé Paulina, who teaches Kindergarten at Whitestone Elementary School. Outside of coaching baseball at Cedar Park, Coach Perez serves as the Running Backs coach for the football program and teaches World History.

 

 

 BRENDAN MCCARTHY, ASSISTANT COACH 

Hometown:

Kingman, AZ

 

Experience:

23 Years

 

Coach McCarthy is beginning his second year of coaching baseball at Cedar Park High School. He will be coaching the JV1 team and coaching the outfield.


Prior to teaching at the high school, he was the Athletic Coordinator at Cedar Park Middle School for 14 years. He grew up in Kingman, Arizona and played baseball all four years for the Bulldogs.


Outside of his baseball duties, he will be assisting in the football program coaching safeties and teaching Money Matters and Business Management. 


Coach McCarthy has been married to his wife, Trish, for 30 years. He has two daughters - Courtney (27) and Morgan (23). 

 

 

 ALLEN MARROW, ASSISTANT COACH 

Hometown:

Albuquerque, NM

 

Experience:

13 Years

 

Coach Marrow is in his 13th year of coaching and is excited to get back on the diamond.  


Coach Marrow spent the last 8 years as a Head Track Coach in the panhandle of Texas at Wheeler, Anson and Spearman.  Prior to those stops, he was an assistant baseball coach for two years in Dalhart before being promoted to the Head Baseball coach.  He spent 2 years as the Head Coach in Dalhart.  


Coach Marrow grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was a graduate of Del Norte High School.  He was a 4 year letterman on the baseball team and was on the State Semifinal team in the 2003 season for the Knights.  After graduating, Coach Marrow spent a season with New Mexico Junior College before transferring to go play baseball at Wayland Baptist University.  He spent 3 years in the baseball program at Wayland.


Outside of his baseball duties, he will assist in the football program and coach Inside Linebackers and will be teaching World History.  


Coach Marrow is married to his wife Whitney who teaches at Deer Creek Elementary and they have 3 boys, Crash, Boston, and Shock.
